MACON, Ga. – Stetson’s Carolina de los Santos capped the week by earning her second-straight Atlantic Sun Women’s Tennis Player of the Week award, while UNF’s Hleb Maslau picked up his first career A-Sun award. De los Santos swept through conference singles play with two 6-0, 6-0 victories against Lipscomb and Belmont, while Maslau earned victories against Mercer, Kennesaw State and Winthrop.
MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Hleb Maslau, UNF (Sr. – Baranovichi, Belarus – Business)
• First Career A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Helped Ospreys to 2-1 record on the week by winning all three of his singles and doubles matches
• Claimed No. 2 singles against Winthrop and Mercer and final win at No. 1 singles at Kennesaw State
• Teamed with Daniel Sotomarino to earn three wins at No. 2 doubles
OTHER NOMINEES:
• Elliot Kahler (So., Kennesaw State) – Won deciding match at No. 4 singles against Jacksonville
• Charles Bottoni (Sr., ETSU) – Claimed singles victories against No. 20 San Diego, Harvard and San Diego State
• Matias Di Pasquale (So., USC Upstate) – Rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat Winthrop’s Liran Levy
WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Carolina de los Santos, Stetson (So. – Montevideo, Uruguay – Marketing)
• Second Career A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Won both of her A-Sun matches with flawless, 6-0, 6-0 scores against Lipscomb and Belmont
• Dropped only four games in doubles play with partner Unnati Purushotham; improved to 14-1
• Helped Hatters to a 15-1 record and 6-1 in conference play with three wins on the week
OTHER NOMINEES:
• Vera Shkundina (Jr., Kennesaw State) – Defeated reigning A-Sun Player of the Year, Aline Berkenbrock, 6-0, 6-2
• Marine Wieliczko (Jr., ETSU) – Went perfect 4-0 on the week with singles victories against Campbell and USC Upstate
• Danielle Day (Jr., UNF) – Earned three wins at No. 2 singles against Kennesaw State, Mercer and Buffalo
