MACON, Ga. – With two weeks remaining until the 2011 Atlantic Sun Tennis Championships in Deland, Fla., ETSU’s Jesus Bandres and Kennesaw State’s Agatha Palider picked up the A-Sun Player of the Week Awards. Bandres led the Bucs to vital wins against Stetson, Campbell and FGCU to keep ETSU atop the A-Sun standings, while Palider pushed the Owls to wins against Campbell and USC Upstate to clinch a spot in the conference championship.
MEN’S PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Jesus Bandres, ETSU (So. – Caracas, Venezula – Business)
• Second Career A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Led Bucs to a perfect 3-0 week with wins against FGCU, Stetson and Campbell
• Earned two victories at No. 3 singles and one at No. 1 against FGCU’s Matt Rock
• Alongside Sander Gille defeated Stetson and Campbell, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles
• Bucs sit in first place in the A-Sun with at 7-1 and clinched a spot in A-Sun Championship
OTHER NOMINEES:
• David Barton (Jr., Mercer) – Extended winning streak to six and remained unbeaten in A-Sun singles play at 7-0
• Michael Langel (Jr., Kennesaw State) – Posted a perfect doubles record with wins against USC Upstate and Campbell
• Edgar Rodriguez (Jr., USC Upstate) – Led Spartans to a 2-0 record with wins against Mercer and Kennesaw State
• Hleb Maslau (Sr., UNF) – Helped Ospreys move back into ITA Rankings at No. 73 with 2-0 week

• Earned two singles victories at No. 4 including three-setter against Camels to clinch win for Owls
• Tied for team lead in singles wins with 16; won eight of last 10 matches
