Visit ASunStore.com for Championship Apparel Thursday, April 14, 2011 DeLAND, Fla. - After an extended doubles point, Campbell made quick work in singles play against Lipscomb, eliminating the Bisons, 4-0, in the final first round match of the Atlantic Sun Men's Tennis Championship. After the teams split the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles positions, the Camel tandem of Davy Sum and Ondrej Kralik outlasted Lipscomb's Tanner Brown and Colby Shaw 9-7 to claim the match's pivotal first point.
Campbell (17-4) carried the momentum earned in the dramatic doubles point into singles play as Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year Fernando Guillen pushed the lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles against the Bisons' Tanner Brown. David Clavera also closed out his match at No. 4 singles in straight sets, topping Miguel Cortez 6-3, 6-1. Kralik swept past Mario Hernandez 6-3, 6-2 to complete the Camels' sweep.
Campbell advances to the semifinals to take on four-time defending champion ETSU Friday afternoon. Match time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
