FGCU Takes Third #ASunMTen Award; Vives Honored

MACON, Ga. – FGCU picked up its third Atlantic Sun Men's Tennis Player of the Week honor of the season as Jordi Vives earned the accolades following a perfect week for the sophomore.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Jordi Vives, FGCU
(So. – Barcelona, Spain)
  • First Career A-Sun Player of the Week honor; program's third this season
  • Went 4-0 at No. 1 singles and doubles in matches vs. UCF and UConn
  • Guided Eagles to 7-0 sweep of Big East's UConn
  • Defeated UCF's Jorge Blasco; 5-7, 6-1, 6-4
  • Won vs. UConn's Wayne Harrell; 6-2, 6-1
  • In doubles, posted wins of 8-3 vs. UCF and 8-4 vs. UConn
OTHER NOMINEES:
  • Simon Julin (Fr., Stetson) - Won his third-straight match to start the season with 5-2 victory vs. Florida A&M
  • Gokalp Ozdemir (Sr., Kennesaw State) - Earned three wins in singles play and two doubles victories
