Thursday, May 23, 2013

URBANA, Ill. – UNF's senior Moritz Buerchner and sophomore Norbert Nemcsek rolled into the second round of the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Doubles Championship on Thursday, cruising to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Chip Cox and Tsvetan Mihov of South Carolina.

The duo controlled the match from the outset and never let up, taking a 4-1 lead in both sets before holding serve in both to take the victory.

The pair, UNF's first-ever representative at the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships, was tied for the highest margin-of-victory in the entire slate of first-round matches.

Buerchner and Nemcsek will face the fifth-seeded pair in the draw tomorrow, as they take on Hernus Pieters and Ben Wagland of Georgia in the Round of 16. Times for tomorrow's matchups will be determined later this evening.

The Osprey pair now owns a 17-6 record on the year, including a stellar 12-3 mark in tournament play. Buerchner and Nemcsek are also 3-1 against nationally ranked foes.
