Ballester Tabbed POTW, JU Continues Climb in Standings

Macon, Ga. -- Jacksonville's Jordi Ballester has be selected as the Atlantic
Sun Player of the Week, league officials announced today, after leading the
Dolphins with a 2-0 singles record.
The Elche, Spain native continues to help JU climb in the A-Sun standing after
picking up singles wins against Campbell and Hampton. Against the Fighting Camels,
Ballester defeated Gabriel Delarue 6-2, 7-5. Ballester also won his singles
match against Hampton's Seo-Jae Chang (6-1, 6-2). Both wins came at the No.
1 spot.
Ballester also competed in doubles action, going 1-1 during the week.
The award is the first of its kind for the exercise science major. It is also
the first time in nearly two years that a Jacksonville student-athlete has been
selected as the POTW. The last JU student-athlete to be honored as such was
Bjoern Behles on April 12, 2005.
The Atlantic Sun Player of the Week is announced every Tuesday during the
2007 tennis season.
The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and
Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
