Owls’ McNair, Witczak Sweep Men’s Track Awards

MACON, Ga. – Fresh of its Atlantic Sun title at the Indoor Championships, Kennesaw State opened its outdoor season at the Asics Coastal Carolina Invitational in Conway, S.C and the performances of Piotr Witczak and Josh McNair earned the teammates the conference’s Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Week, respectively.

Witczak finished second in the 1500-meter run last weekend, posting a time of 3:59.86. The sophomore international business major, and Colin Eustis from American University, represented the only runners to break four minutes in the 63-runner event. The native of Warsaw, Poland also made up part of the winning 4x800meter relay team that set a meet record with a time of 7:42.43.

McNair posted three top-six finishes last weekend. The senior from Hinesville, Ga. finished sixth in the hammer throw Friday, his first time in competition in that event in 2010, with a top heave of 54.44 meters. On Saturday, the information security & assurance major finished third in the discus, also the first time he competed in that event, with a top throw of 47.60 meters, followed by a runner-up finish in the shot put with a top toss of 15.09 meters.
