Thursday, May 27, 2010 MACON, Ga. - The Atlantic Sun Conference men's track and field athletes ready for the East NCAA Regionals with three from Campbell, two from ETSU and six from Kennesaw State in the mix Thursday in Greensboro, N.C. Campbell - Track Heads to NCAA East Regional BUIES CREEK, N.C.- Harold Sims, Adoniss Jones and Diego Lawrence will represent Campbell track & field at the 2010 NCAA East Regional beginning on Thursday at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Complex on the campus of North Carolina A&T, in Greensboro, N.C. The regional runs May 27-29. Events begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday and Friday and at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Sims, a senior, will be just the second Camel ever to compete in at least four NCAA competitions, after Alicia Valtin, who made a school record five appearances. This will be Sims' third 400 meter hurdles appearance. The Oxford, N.C. native made the 110 and 400 meter hurdle fields a year ago. The senior qualified for the event with his season-best 51.70 at the Joe Hilton Carolina Classic. The time ranks Sims fourth in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region, and 26th in the entire East's championship field. ETSU - Monal, James gear up for NCAA East Regional

(May 26, 2010) – Senior Duronal Monal (Belle Glade, Fla.) and junior Mike James (Palm Bay, Fla.) begin their quest for an NCAA Track & Field Championship Thursday evening when the Buccaneer tandem compete in the East Regional, hosted by North Carolina A&T at the Irwin Belk Track Complex. Kennesaw State - Owls Gear up for NCAA Championships GREENSBORO, N.C.- Five members of the Kennesaw State Owls men’s track and field squad will make history beginning on Thursday, when they compete in the program’s first-ever NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships, in the East Preliminary Rounds at the Irwin Belk Track in Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. Each of the five achieved a mark in their respective event that is among the top-48 in the NCAA East Region this year, which gained them entry into this prestigious event. Those who place in the top-12 in their event this weekend will move on, along with the top-12 finishers of each event from the West Preliminary Rounds, to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., beginning June 9. Sophomore Dan Grass, whose 1:49.74 mark in the 800 Meters ranks 38th in the East this year and was good enough to set a new Atlantic Sun Conference Championship record two weeks ago, is excited to get the chance to compete in a meet like this. “This is a new level of competition, I get to go up against some of the best people in the nation, so it’s pretty exciting to get to do this,” said Grass, whose A-Sun performance also set a new Owls’ outdoor program record. “We finally have the chance to go as far as our talent will take us, and that’s a great feeling.” |
