MACON, Ga. – Campbell’s Diego Lawrence and Jacksonville’s Ronnisha Hall earned back-to-back Atlantic Sun Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards, while Kennesaw State’s Jaakko Nieminen and Lipscomb’s Dani Walker picked up their first career A-Sun awards.
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Jaakko Nieminen, Kennesaw State (Distance – Jr. – Jyvaskyla, Finland – International Business)
• First Career A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week award
• Won the Georgia Intercollegiate Invitational in the 5,000m
• Set a personal and school record in event at 14:41.05
• Time ranks as No. 10 in the nation and No. 1 in the conference
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Dani Walker, Lipscomb (Mid-Distance – Fr. – Wichita, Kan. – Kinesiology)
• First Career A-Sun Track Athlete of the Week award
• Broke school record in the 3,000m at the Shamrock Invite with time of 10:07.79
• Anchored school record setting 4x800m relay with time of 8:55.20
• Second in the 1,500m with time of 4:41.83
• On the season has broken school records in indoor 800m, mile run, 4x400m, DMR and outdoor 800m, 3,000m, 5,000m, 4x400m and 4x800m
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Diego Lawrence, Campbell (Jumps – So. – Waxhaw, N.C.)
• Fifth A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Won long jump at Shamrock Invitational with top leap of 7.53m, which set outdoor personal best
• Distance in long jump ranks as the top distance in the nation
• Jumped 13.9m in the triple jump, good for ninth place
• Ran second leg for Campbell in 4x100m relay, which finished second in time of 41.13
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Ronnisha Hall, Jacksonville (Throws – Sr. – Pahokeem Fla. - Psychology)
• Second A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Posted school record in hammer throw with toss of 174’6 at UCF Black & Gold Challenge
• Toss ranks 11th in the region and 28th in the nation
• Led the Dolphins with a toss of 46’7.5 in the shot put
