Final A-Sun Track & Field Weekly Awards Given Out

MACON, Ga. – ETSU swept the Atlantic Sun Track Athlete of the Week awards with Mike James and Emani Harrison earning the honors, while Campbell’s Diego Lawrence claimed his fourth award of the outdoor season and second straight. Kennesaw State’s Patricia Damron received her first career award with her javelin performance.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Mike James, ETSU (Sprints/Hurdles – Sr. – Palm Bay, Fla. – Criminal Justice)
• First A-Sun Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award this season
• Clocked a time of 14.02 in 110-meter preliminaries at Clemson Final Qualifier
• Earned a sixth-place finish in the short-distance hurdle finals in 14.10
• Top time of the season currently ranks 41st in nation; 17th in East Region

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Emani Harrison, ETSU (Sprints/Hurdles – Fr. – Columbia, S.C. – Interdisciplinary Studies)
• First Career A-Sun Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award
• Qualified for the NCAA East Regional with a time of 11.63 in 100m dash
• Lowered the school record by .04 seconds, which she previously set at A-Sun Championship
• Her time ranks 93rd in the nation and 46th in the East Region

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Diego Lawrence, Campbell (Jumps – So. – Waxhaw, N.C. – Business Administration)
• Third A-Sun Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award this season; Fourth overall
• Won Long Jump at Aggie Classic with distance of 7.58m
• His fourth long jump title of the 2011 outdoor season; 11th career title
• Owns the 22nd best jump in the nation of the season at 7.72m

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Patricia Damron, Kennesaw State (Combined – So. – Canton, Ga. – Business Management)
• First Career A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Set new personal record in javelin throw at Clemson Final Qualifier
• Distance of 37.01 passed previous mark by three meters
• Finished seventh overall at the meet
