Quimby, Davenport win First Track & Field Honors

MACON, Ga. – A pair of women, Jacksonville’s Danielle Davenport and USC Upstate’s Michelle Quimby won their first Atlantic Sun Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards while repeat winners Kendall Parks from Kennesaw State and Diego Lawrence from Campbell claimed the men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Kendall Parks, Kennesaw State (Hurdles – Jr. – Duluth, Ga. – Undeclared)
• Second Career A-Sun Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award
• Finished second in the 110-meter hurdles at the FSU Twilight
• His time of 13.85 broke his previously owned school record
• Currently in position to qualify for NCAA Prelims later this month

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Danielle Davenport, Jacksonville (Sprints – Sr. – Lawrenceville, Ga. – Exercise Science)
• First Career A-Sun Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week award
• Won the 400-meter at the Seminole Twilight in a time of 53.53
• Established a school record with that time and ranks as the fastest in the A-Sun
• Her time ranks 30th in the nation and ninth in the East Region

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Diego Lawrence, Campbell (Long Jump – So. – Waxhaw, N.C. – Undeclared)
• Sixth A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Hit a personal best (7.72 meters) in the long jump at Clemson Bob Pollock Invitational
• Finished second in the event
• Jump ranks 10th in the East Region and 20th in the nation

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Michelle Quimby, Kennesaw State (Pole Vault/High Jump – So. – Ballston Lake, N.Y. – Physical & Health Education)
• First Career A-Sun Field Athlete of the Week award
• Finished fourth in pole vault with height of 3.66 meters
• Finished fourth in high jump with height of 1.66 meters
• Had a season best in both events at Florida State Twilight Meet
