MACON, Ga. - USC Upstate's Matt Johnson and ETSU's Jason Johnson earned the Atlantic Sun Conference Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Matt Johnson, USC Upstate (So. – Mid-Distance – Elgin, S.C. – Communications)
- First Career A-Sun Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week Honor
- Earned third place in the 800-meter run at Clemson Tiger Qualifier
- Posted a time of 1:51.39 in the event
- Broke the Upstate program record in event by nearly two seconds
OTHER NOMINEES:
‐ Filip Jalovy - ETSU: Competed at the Georgia Tech Invitational in 1,500m (3:55.26) and 800m (1:54.47)
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:
Jason Johnson, ETSU(Jr. – Jumps – Philadelphia, Pa. – Exercise Science)
- First Career Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award
- Earned first place in the high jump at the Bob Pollock Invitational
- Competed in triple jump at two separate meets this past weekend
- Set a personal record at Clemson Qualifier (15.09m); good for second place
- Earned sixth place at Aggie Classic with distance of 14.90m
