Macon, Ga. -- Gardner-Webb's Jeremy Longshore was named Atlantic Sun Athlete of
the Week today by the conference office.
The Pacolet, S.C. native jumped 15 feet, 7 inches to a new school record and a
victory at the Charlotte 49er Classic. He surpassed his old record of 15 feet,
3 inches, which was set last year at the Wake Forest Open. This jump puts the
sophomore at the top of the A-Sun standings in the men's pole vault.
Longshore is majoring in education.
The Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week is announced every Wednesday during the 2006
outdoor track season.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb,
Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
