FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU softball team received a vote in this week's ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll the Amateur Softball Association announced on Tuesday.

The Eagles have never earned a vote in a Division 1 national poll. "It is an honor to be mentioned in the same release with the best teams in college softball," said Head Coach Dave Deiros. "Our team is playing very well right now and deserves the recognition. We need to keep the momentum going as we enter our conference schedule starting this weekend."

FGCU has a 28-6 overall record, including winning 24 of their last 25 games. Senior Carmen Paez (Belle Glade, Fla.) has been named A-Sun Player of the Week twice this season while senior Rachael Edinger (Lakeland, Fla.) and freshman Morgan Campen (Roungemont, N.C.) have each earned a A-Sun Pitcher of the Week award.

The Eagles will host a double-header with Tennessee-Chattanooga on Wednesday, March 12, before hitting the road to play double-headers with Appalachian State, Western Carolina and East Tennessee State this weekend.
