![]() MACON, Ga. – Tim Crosby is the new Associate Commissioner for Development and External Relations for the Atlantic Sun Conference, Commissioner Ted Gumbart announced on January 18. Crosby brings more than 25 years of experience in the business of college and professional sports to the A-Sun. His broad professional background includes media-relations, event-management, partnership activation, business development, revenue generation, and sports information. “We are very enthusiastic about having Tim join our A-Sun team,” said A-Sun Commissioner Ted Gumbart. “The Atlantic Sun continues to distinguish itself as a premier Division I conference and we are proud to bring on a staff member that will contribute to our ongoing growth. Adding an individual with Tim’s values, work ethic and professional experience is a tremendous boost for the A-Sun and our staff.” Prior to owning his own consulting company, Crosby held a variety of positions within the PGA Tour and the Senior PGA Tour (now Champions Tour). As Director of Tournament Business Affairs for the PGA (1999-2010), he served as primary liaison with PGA Tour cosponsored tournaments, managing portfolio of events with aggregate revenues in excess of $100M. In this role Crosby worked with tournament organizations to grow their businesses and expand their efforts for charity.He co-managed the PGA Tour’s relationship with its sanctioned tournaments through the organization’s most-productive cycle, with seven consecutive years (2001-2007) of increases in revenue, prize money and charitable proceeds at events under his supervision. Crosby held two positions with the Senior PGA Tour, serving first as Director of Communications and Sponsor Services (1988-1994) and later as Vice President of Tournament Business Affairs (1994-99). In his Senior Tour communications role he supervised media and public relations, tournament publicity, tour publications, and assisted with Tour headquarters management and administration. As V.P., he co-managed tournament business affairs, supervised administration of tournament regulations and worked regularly with the Tour’s Senior Division Board of Directors. Crosby began his career in athletics serving in a variety of roles including media relations, game-day management, and business affairs for NCAA Division II Augusta State University and media relations for Division I Georgia Southern University. The Atlantic Sun Conference is an NCAA Division I league with 10 member institutions committed to Building Winners for Life. The A-Sun meets the challenge of maintaining the highest standards in academic and athletic achievement with a true balance between student and athlete. Headquartered in Macon, Ga., the A-Sun boasts six of the top eight media markets in the Southeast. The A-Sun includes a blend of the most prestigious and dynamic private and public institutions in the region: Belmont University, East Tennessee State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Jacksonville University, Kennesaw State University, Lipscomb University, Mercer University, University of North Florida, University of South Carolina Upstate and Stetson University. Northern Kentucky will become the A-Sun’s newest member beginning July 1, 2012. |
