The purpose of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image.

Carolyn BoydChair - Sarah Santana, Mercer

2010: Made her way into the starting lineup as a true freshman in 2010…Ended up starting 33 games of the 41 she saw action in…Tied for second on the team in RBI with 19…Was second on the Bears roster with five home runs on the year…Was fourth on the team in slugging percentage (.427)… Scored her first ever run in the first game of the season against Iona(2/13)…Recorded her first start at first base against Tennessee Tech and went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI(2/19)…Followed that up with a break out performance against Ball State the next day going 2-for-3 with her first-career home run coming by way of a grand slam and then another solo home run for five RBI in a 9-1 win(2/20)…The next day against Middle Tennessee St. she went 3-for-4 at the plate with another three-run home run, an RBI double and an RBI single for a total of five RBI in the game(2/21)…Against Florida A&M (2/23) went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and an RBI(2/23)…Had an two-run double and scored two runs as the designated player against Savannah St. (2/24)…Against Belmont (4/10) went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and three RBI…Had three hits and a run scored in the double-header at East Tennessee St. (4/16)…In game two at USC Upstate (4/17) went 2-for-4 with a solo home run…Led the team with a .994 fielding percentage with just one error on the year.

High School: Played three years under head coach Jared Dickey at Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Ga. She was a three time All-State selection…As a senior was named the 2008 Region 1-5A Player of the Year…She was a 2006, ‘07 and ’08 offensive player of the year for Lowndes H.S…Batted .426 as a sophomore, .396 as a junior and .347 her senior year…Team made the Georgia Elite 8 all four seasons and was 30-8 her senior year…Names a walk-off home run against Houston County in the 2007 sectional tournament as her best individual performance…

Personal:
Was the Class of 2009’s Salutatorian…Chose Mercer because of its reputable Division I Athletics program and high academic standard…is the daughter of Debbie and Raymond and has an older brother and a younger brother...Is a Business major at Mercer.


Vice Chair - Esteban Mendez, Jacksonville

2011: Raced in all four meets as a sophomore … was the Dolphins top finisher in the final three meets … broke the 30-minute mark at the UCF Attack Challenge (29:47.91) and the A-Sun Championships (29:16.12) … also registered a time of 18:23.10 at the FLRunners.com Invitational.

 2010: Raced in all four meets as a freshman … was the Dolphins third highest finisher at the A-Sun Championships (30:52.84) … recorded a time of 19:35.72 at the FLRunners.com Invitational.

 


Secretary - Stephond Allmond, ETSU

2010-11: Set personal marks in the 60m (7.15) and high jump (1.84m) at the Liberty Open, 60m hurdles (9.04) at the VT Invitational, long jump (6.70m) at the Niswonger Invitational, triple jump (13.60m) at the App State Indoor, pole vault (4.60m), 1000m (3:02.43) and shot put (10.94m) at the A-Sun Indoor Championships… finished in fourth place at the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships in the heptathlon with 4536 points…Finished in sixth place at the Liberty Open in the heptathlon with 4056 points.

Personal: Born Aug. 3, 1991… son of Stephen and Tiffany Allmond… majoring in Sociology.

 


Carolyn Boyd

A-Sun NCAA National SAAC Representative - Carolyn Boyd, Stetson

2011: Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team...Conference Scholar...appeared in 31 games with 29 starts at first base...two base hits and one RBI...only two errors in 239 chances for a .992 fielding percentage.

2010: Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team...appeared in 31 games, making 25 starts at first base...batted .184 with three doubles...went two for three with a double in March 9 win over Austin Peay that served as Head Coach Frank Griffin's 700th career victory...shortly after the season, was named to NCAA Division I National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

2009: Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team...appeared in 37 games, making 28 starts at third base, catcher and designated player...batted .221 with two doubles and four RBI...one of six Hatters to draw 10 walks...first career base hit was an RBI single vs. Texas State (Feb. 7)...two hits vs. Albany (Feb. 15) and vs. Hartford (March 15).

Prior to Stetson: Medically redshirted the 2008 season at UNC Greensboro...played for Terry Austin at Houston High School (Germantown, Tenn.) outside Memphis...named Best of the Preps Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Memphis Commercial Appeal as a senior...finalist for Best of the Preps Softball Player of the Year award...played one season of varsity soccer besides four of softball and four of basketball...helped club team Germantown Red Devils Gold win an AFA national championship and an ASA regional title.

Personal: Served as chair of the Atlantic Sun Conference Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and represented the A-Sun on the NCAA Division I SAAC...chair of Stetson University SAAC.
