JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida athletics department has announced that Kimberly Benton has been added to its staff as the new business manager.
“We are very excited about the addition of Kimberly to our staff,” Athletics Director Dr. Richard Gropper said. “She brings experience and a personality that make her a great fit.”
Benton, who recently graduated with her MBA from UNF, will be responsible for the oversight and coordination of the athletics budget. Prior to joining the athletics staff, Benton worked with the UNF controller’s office for two years. Benton’s last role in the controller’s office was as the senior accountant, where she helped deal with a number of financial and accounting functions.
“I am excited to be involved with the athletics program,” Benton said. “With the transition to Division I, it is a great time to get involved and watch the growth of such a young program.”
The Jacksonville native graduated from UCF in 2003 with a bachelor of science in accounting. While attending UCF, Benton was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, where she was served as vice president of finances. Upon her graduation she joined the Corporation Board, serving as vice president from 2004-2005.
The next big step in Benton’s life will come in January 2008, when she marries her college sweetheart, Andy Matthews.
