KSU and Stetson Take Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors

Macon, Ga. -- Kennesaw State's Jennifer Nolan and Stetson's Jenny Diaz received Atlantic Sun Player & Pitcher of the Week honors announced by the conference office today.

Nolan had a spectacular week for the Owls. The junior from Woodstock, Ga., hit in four games, batting .667 (8-for-12). Half of her hits were doubles and she drove in eight runs as the Owls swept Furman and conference foe ETSU. She had six runs scored and 12 total bases while posting a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .714 on base percentage. The Owls have won 10 of their last 11 games.

Diaz led the Hatters in the circle with a 2-1 record and a 0.58 ERA in 24.1 innings of work last week. She struck out five batters and allowed just two earned runs and two extra-base hits. The senior from Miami, Fla., had the no decision after five and two-thirds innings of relief work against Georgia Southern.

She then pitched the last 18 and two-thirds innings allowing no earned runs or extra-base hits. The senior had the win against Boston after coming into the game in the second inning. Diaz also earned a shutout against Cornell Sunday as the Hatters won 5-0.

Jenna Lopez, FAU (Jr. - CF - Orangeburg, N.Y. - Elementary Education) -- Lopez batted a tournament-best .429 and hit her first two career home runs.

Haley Scism, GWU
(So. - P - Concord, N.C. - Undecided) -- Scism hurled nine innings without allowing an earned run and striking out 15 of the 35 batters in 2-0 week against Georgetown.

Brittany Matthews, KSU
(So. - LHP - Brooks, Ga. - Undecided) -- Pitched 11.1 innings while allowing nine hits and striking out 12 in wins over Furman and ETSU.

Lindsey Wightman, STET
(So. - 2B - Surrey, B.C. - Undecided) -- Hit .519 as she went 14-for-27 with six runs, five RBIs, three doubles and two homeruns.
