Mercer's Madruga and KSU's Lamb Take Top Weekly Awards

Monday, April 10, 2006

Macon, Ga. -- Mercer's Jamie Madruga (Warner Robins, Ga.) and Kennesaw State's Lisa Lamb (Marietta, Ga.) each earned Atlantic Sun Player & Pitcher of the Week honors as announced today by the conference office.

Madruga helped Mercer to a 6-0 week, batting .538 (7-of-13). She was a perfect 3-of -3 against Western Carolina, with three RBI, a triple and a homer in the 8-0 victory. For the week, the sophomore had seven RBI, a double, a triple and two home runs.

Lamb earns her second Pitcher of the Week award behind a historic performance. The senior culminated a week in which she didn't allow an earned run with a no-hitter against Gardner-Webb on April 8. Lamb's performance in the circle, combined with Brittany Matthews' no-hitter in the second game against the Bulldogs led to the Owls' first no-hit doubleheader.

For the week, in two complete games and one relief stint, Lamb allowed just six hits and one walk in 17.1 innings of work as she picked up two wins to raise her season mark to 13-2. She has not allowed a hit in her last 8.1 innings.

The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Monday during the 2006 softball campaign.

The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
