Thursday, May 18, 2006 MACON, Ga.-- The Atlantic Sun Player of the Year Melissa Wiggins and Pitcher of the Year Katie Rosentreter were both honored by the southeast region's head coaches and named to the 2006 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Second Team.A senior from Temple Terrace, Fla., Wiggins earned Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year mention after leading the league in multiple offensive categories. Among A-Sun leaders, the third baseman finished the season either first or tied for first in batting (.410), hits (77), RBIs (53), doubles (16), home runs (11), slugging percentage (.691) and total bases (130). She has set both season and career records in most of these categories at Stetson. The four-year standout also ended her career first at Stetson in games played with 228. This is Wiggins' second consecutive all-region mention
and is a four-time all-conference performer and a school-record six-time A-Sun
Player of the Week. Wiggins graduated from Stetson in May with a degree in Sports
Management. Wiggins and Rosentreter will now be added to the
ballot for All-America voting during the World Series.
