Tuesday, July 04, 2006 MACON, Ga.- Former Bears hurler Katie Rosentreter scattered four hits over three innings of work to help lead the Canada Elite squad past the Japanese Denso club, 8-6, in their opening game of the Canada Cup.Rosentreter, the Atlantic Sun Pitcher of The Year last season, surrendered two runs in the bottom of the first inning but went on to record three strikeouts while walking only one batter in three innings of work in the circle. "I'm really excited and proud about the way we played," said Canadian Elite coach and Mercer head softball coach Tony Foti. "We battled and showed determination even when the Japanese took the momentum away. Rosentreter and Belanger provided us with some great pitching and our hitting was outstanding. This was a great way to start the tournament against a very talented Japanese team." The full release and complete box score can be found at Softball Canada. |
