Sunday, April 25, 2010 BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Lipscomb claimed the 2010 A-Sun title after sweeping two-time defending tournament champ Campbell as All-American candidate Whitney Kiihnl earned both wins in the circle. The Lady Bisons move to 40-10 overall this season to become the eighth A-Sun team in the last four years to reach the 40-win plateau. Kiihnl continues her dominate season and broke into the top-5 in A-Sun single season history with 27 wins. She needs one more to move into a tie for third and three more to match Liz Niadna of FAU for second place all-time. Nicole Myers holds the conference record of 36 wins, set in 2002. The title is Lipscomb's second in three years and first outright crown. The Lady Bisons will be searching for their first appearance in an NCAA Regional and are aiming for an A-Sun tournament title to take the guess work out of the bid. Championship play begins March 13 at Patricia Wilson Field on the campus of Stetson University. |
