Kiihnl Tosses 14 K's as Lady Bisons Deafeat Camels, 4-1

DeLAND, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Player and Pitcher of the Year, Whitney Kiihnl of No. 1 Lipscomb, recorded 14 strikeouts against No. 6 Campbell to lead the Lady Bisons to a 4-1 victory, Thursday in the second game of the A-Sun Softball Championships.

Kiihnl's strikeout total marked the 12th time she reached double figures and the second-highest total of the season. The Batesville, Miss. native also allowed four hits and just one run (unearned). Fellow teammate Kellie Sirus led the offensive charge for Lipscomb with two hits in three at bats, one home run and two RBIs.

Senior Brittany Stanley took the loss for Campbell, her first in tournament play since the 2007 A-Sun Championships. Stanley also allowed four runs (3 unearned) in five innings. Junior Keeli Michael scored the Camels' only run of the game in the third inning on a RBI hit by Katie Hinton.

Lipscomb will face No. 4 USC Upstate at 6 p.m., while Campbell has a matchup with the loser of No. 2 Stetson/No. 5 Jacksonville at 4 p.m.
