Friday, May 14, 2010 DeLAND, Fla. – With No. 1 Lipscomb's 6-1 defeat of second-seeded Stetson, the Lady Bisons move into the finals of the Atlantic Sun Softball Championship for a chance to become the A-Sun Tournament Champions and earn the NCAA automatic bid. Senior Kellie Sirus continued to dominate at the plate, slamming her fourth home run of tournament play, a three run shot in the bottom of the first inning, to give the Lady Bisons an early jumpstart in the contest. In addition, the native of Sarasota, Fla. connected on two of three hits. In the circle, Senior Alaina Jacobson (6-4) recorded a two-hit contest, as she fanned four Hatter batters in seven innings. The senior from Crocker, Mo. also limited the Hatters to one run (earned) and three walks. Amy Joyce led the offense for Stetson, as the senior Hatter went 1-for-2 at the plate. In the top of the second inning, the senior smacked an RBI single to bring junior Jill Semento around to score the Hatters' lone run of the game. Amanda Lindsey and Nicole Peltz split six innings in the circle, as the pair allowed 10 hits, six earned runs and two walks in total, in addition to a total of four strikeouts. Lindsey took the loss, falling to 25-11 on the year. Lispcomb will play the winner of Stetson/No. 4 USC Upstate on Saturday for a chance at its first A-Sun Tournament title and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
