Spartans Continue Undefeated Run; Sweep Awards

MACON, Ga. – Morgan Childers and Ericka Harris led USC Upstate to a second-consecutive undefeated week to push the team’s record to 10-0 and earn the duo the Atlantic Sun Conference Softball weekly honors, announced Monday by the league office. Harris recorded base hits in every game on the week, while Childers earned four victories for the Spartans and fanned 39 batters.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Ericka Harris, USC Upstate (Catcher – So. – Piedmont, S.C. – Business Marketing)
• First A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Batted .611 on 11-of-18 at the plate including at least one hit in all six games
• Named MVP of the Upstate Classic as Spartans went 4-0 in home tournament
• Collected eight hits, three RBI and five runs over the weekend
• Posted three hits in sweep of Gardner-Webb earlier in the week

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Jackie Reese (C, UNF) – Drilled two home runs in 3-2 victory against Samford
• Amanda Miller (SS, Campbell) – Reached base in every game of the week, while batting .400
• Katie Kelly (SS, Jacksonville) – Batted a team-best .438 with seven RBI, three runs scored, two doubles and a homer
• Kelley Cash (CF, Belmont) – Led team with a .343 batting average including two doubles
• Chelsey Trotto (SS, Stetson) – Swiped five bases and went 10-for-18 at the plate at Hatter Invitational
• Brittney Garabedian (SS/DP, FGCU) – Drove in three RBI on three extra-base hits

PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Morgan Childers, USC Upstate (Pitcher – Sr. – Kings Mountain, N.C. – Secondary Education)
• Ninth Career A-Sun Pitcher of the Week
• Recorded four wins on the week to lead Spartans to 10-0 start; program-best start since joining Division I
• Fanned 39 batters on the week in 19 innings
• Led Spartans to Upstate Classic title with three wins
• Entered championship game in relief to toss four innings and earn comeback-win against Hampton

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Cortney Radke (Fr., UNF) – Tied school record with 16 strikeouts in 2-0 win against UCF
• Katie Woodcock (Sr., Campbell) – Among national leaders with three saves and tops in A-Sun
• Meredith Owen (Fr., Stetson) – Earned first career victory in six-hit shutout of South Dakota State
• Stephanie Sullivan (So., FGCU) – Picked up shutout victory against Big East foe Georgetown
• Sarah Sigrest (Jr., Jacksonville) – Went 2-1 with 0.67 ERA in 21 innings of work; added shutout of Central Michigan
