MACON, Ga. – Sharon Swanson’s powerful bat surged Kennesaw State past No. 22 Georgia Tech and Mississippi State this week as the sophomore belted a grand slam against the Yellow Jackets and two-run bomb against the Bulldogs. Preseason Pitcher of the Year, Whitney Kiihnl, earned two victories for Lipscomb including a 17-strikeout no-hitter against Samford.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Sharon Swanson, Kennesaw State (OF – So. – Canton, Ga.)
• First A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Batted .667 on 10-of-15 at the plate with three home runs on the week
• Mashed two-out grand slam against No. 22 Georgia Tech to give Owls 4-1 victory
• Added two-run dinger against Mississippi State to propel KSU to 3-2 win
• Capped the week with a 4-for-4 effort against Tennessee State

• Sarah Forgacs (OF, Campbell) – Hit .313 on the week with three RBI and three runs scored
• Amy Campbell (SS, ETSU) – Guided Lady Bucs to two wins at Frost Classic batting .429 on the weekend
• Lauren Pollack (Utility, UNF) – Smacked her first-career solo homerun to tie the game in a win against UCF in the sixth
• Kayla Ouellet (CF, Jacksonville) – Drove in two runs in win against UConn and batted .400 on the week
• Ashley Byers (1B, Belmont) – Belted five dingers on the season to bat .364 last week
• Vanessa Medina (1B, Lipscomb) – Went 6-of-12 from the plate with two homers and a double
• Emily Lanier (C, FGCU) – Hit first-collegiate homer en route to hitting .400 on the week
• Katie Zauner (OF, USC Upstate) – Connected for 11 hits and 4 RBI on a 6-0 week for Spartans
• Sara Stukes (SS, Mercer) – Led MU in batting, RBI, homers, doubles, triples and total bases

PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Whitney Kiihnl, Lipscomb (Jr. – Batesville, Miss. – Biology)
• Seventh Career A-Sun Pitcher of the Week
• Struck out a season-high 17 batters out of 19 faced in no-hitter against Samford
• Pitched 18 scoreless innings in three games to earn two victories
• Fanned 30 batters in total on the week; only allowed five hits
• Named Pitching MVP of the UAB Tournament

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Cortney Radke (Fr., UNF) – Hurled four complete games and allowed only seven earned runs
• Katie Woodcock (Sr., Campbell) – Led Camels with a 0.78 ERA in two appearances
• Meredith Owen (Fr., Stetson) – Earned first career victory in six-hit shutout of South Dakota State
• Morgan Campen (Jr., FGCU) – Shutout St. Francis to pick up first win since returning from injury
