Hinton, Sigrest Take A-Sun Softball Weekly Awards

MACON, Ga. – Katie Hinton led Campbell to conference-opening sweep against Mercer to earn the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award, announced Monday by the league office. Jacksonville’s Sarah Sigrest picked up her second A-Sun Pitcher of the Week award by holding No. 22 Texas A&M to one hit and one run in a 3-1 victory against the Aggies.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Katie Hinton, Campbell (OF – Sr. – College Station, Texas - Kinesiology)
• First A-Sun Player of the Week award
• Batted .500 on the week with eight hits, seven RBI and four runs scored
• Helped Camels to a 4-0 week with a sweep in conference opener against Mercer
• Scored the game-winning run against Mercer in eighth inning of game one
• Drove in three total runs against the Bears including two in game two of the doubleheader

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Marlina Delisa (OF, ETSU) – Recorded four hits in two games against Presbyterian with two RBI
• Courtney Platt (LF, FGCU) – Notched six doubles and plated seven runs; batted .647
• Kim Brasil (OF, USC Upstate) – Led Spartans sweep of Rhode Island with three hits and four runs scored
• Kaley Brosky (2B, UNF) – Hit .643 on the weekend with five RBI and five runs scored
• Breanna Thurman (CF, Lipscomb) – Recorded three multi-hit games on the week with 4-for-4 effort against Coastal Carolina
• Sarah Simon (C, Jacksonville) – Tied the JU career home run mark with solo shot against Dartmouth
• Sara Stukes (SS, Mercer) – Improved season batting average to .411 with four hits on the week

PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Sarah Sigrest, Jacksonville (Jr. – Daphne, Ala. – Exercise Science)
• Third A-Sun Pitcher of the Week
• Earned 3-1 victory against No. 22 Texas A&M with a one-hit complete game
• Struck out 19 batters on the week including five in win against Aggies
• Also picked up victory against Dartmouth with one run on six hits and six strikeouts
• Completed the week with a 2-1 record, 1.83 ERA and .200 opponent batting average

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Jessica Duncan (Sr., ETSU) – Guided Bucs to a road sweep of Presbyterian; earned her fifth win
• Katie Woodcock (Sr., Campbell) – Picked up two wins with a 0.60 ERA and 13 strikeouts
• Kelci Breaux (Sr., FGCU) – Struck out career-high 14 vs. Dartmouth in complete-game shutout
• Morgan Childers (Sr., USC Upstate) – Fanned 10 batters in four innings against Rhode Island
• Devon Schmidt (So., Belmont) – Allowed only one earned run in 20 innings by striking out 22
• Amanda Henderson (Fr., Kennesaw State) – Hurled one-hit complete games against Georgia State
• Cortney Radke (Fr., UNF) – Earned three victories on week; posted 1.22 ERA in 28.2 innings
• Kari Chambers (Sr., Mercer) – Struck out nine in showdown against Campbell in seven innings
