Friday, January 20, 2012 DeLand, Fla. - For the third time in the past four years, Stetson Softball's beautiful home facility of Patricia Wilson Field has been named Sports Turf Managers Association National College Softball Field of the Year. The STMA presented the award to PWF's head maintenance technician Steve Barnard at its annual convention in Long Beach, Calif. over the weekend. The care and dedication shown by Barnard, former head maintenance technician George Marshall as well as Head Coach Frank Griffin and his staff (Associate Head Coach Vanessa Bataille and Assistant Coach J.J. Payette) in maintaining Patricia Wilson Field never goes unnoticed by the Hatters, their fans or visiting fans; the pre-eminent professional sports turf organization in the nation has recognized PWF as well with National College Softball Field of the Year awards in 2007, 2008, 2009 and now for 2011. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has also named the facility its Field of the Year in 2004 and 2007.
