MACON, Ga. – USC Upstate's Shellie Robinson and Lipscomb's Whitney Kiihnl take home the Atlantic Sun Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors, announced by the league office on Monday. Robinson raked in 10 RBI and had 12 runs on the week with six home runs. On the other hand, Kiihnl pitched 25 innings allowing no earned runs.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Shellie Robinson, USC Upstate (OF - Fr. - DeLand, Fla. - Chemistry)
- First Career A-Sun Player of the Week award
- Finished the week hitting .529 with six home runs
- In four games, she hit .667 with nine RBIs, nine runs and five home runs in the Upstate Softball Tournament
- Hit her second home run of the season against Delaware and also had two hits in the win against UT-Martin
- Went 3-for-3 with two home runs with five RBIs and four runs in the win over Liberty
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Casey Horner (1B/DP, ETSU) – Finished off the weekend with a double and a walk in the 1-0 win vs. Niagara
- Lindsay Vollmer (C, Kennesaw State) – Hit her first career grand slam against Alabama State
- Lauren Pollack (UT, North Florida) – Hit .500, going 6-for-12 from the place with five RBI, three doubles and one HR
- Ashley Simon (SS, Jacksonville) – Went 4-for-9 on the week while batting .444 with four RBI
- Kelsey Cartwright (IF, Lipscomb) – Went 7-for-14 with five RBI and one home run.
- Ashley Byers (IB, Belmont) – Led the Bruins n the week, recording a hit in each contest, with a season-high three hits against Tennessee Tech
PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Whitney Kiihnl, Lipscomb (Sr. – Batesville, Miss. – Biology)
- Tenth Career A-Sun Pitcher of the Week
- Allowed one total run (unearned) in 25 innings pitched at the College of Charleston Classic
- Shutout Virginia Tech, MTSU and Louisiana Monroe on back-to-back-to-back days
- Three-hit Louisiana Monroe in the finale, striking out a weekend-high nine batters
- Ended the week with a 0.00 ERA, 22K's and three shutouts while going 4-0
OTHER NOMINEES:
Shelby Morgan (Fr., FGCU) – Pitched a two-hit shutout against Eastern Michigan in a 1-0 win, with 7 strikeouts
Jessica Holsinger (Fr., Mercer) – Threw 15 innings in two games and allowed just seven total hits and one earned run
Lacey Dinney (Sr.,USC Upstate) – Went 3-0 on the week with a combined shutout to top Gardner-Webb
Kaylie Wallace (Fr., North Florida) – Threw a career-best seven strikeouts against Albany
Amanda Henderson (So., Kennesaw State) – Allowed one earned run in two complete games, striking out seven against Bradley
Katie Wolff (So., ETSU) – Helped lead ETSU to two wins with a 0.79 ERA
