MACON, Ga. – FGCU's Kirsten Bembnowski and North Florida's Kaylie Wallace earned the Atlantic Sun Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors, announced by the league office on Monday. Bembnowski batted .600 on the week with five RBI to guide the Eagles to five victories, while Wallace posted a 5-0 record with one save in six appearances in the circle.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Kirsten Bembnowski, FGCU (3B - So. - Palm Harbor, Fla. - English)
- First Career A-Sun Player of the Week award
- Batted .600 on the week (9-for-15) with three extra-base hits
- Added five RBI with three runs scored to help Eagles to four wins
- Led team in total bases (13), slugging percentage (.867) and on-base percentage (.684)
- Recorded two doubles and a triple
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Casey Horner (1B/DP, ETSU) – Went 5-for-7 with a homer and three RBI in doubleheader split vs. Presbyterian
- McKenzie Woody (CF, Mercer) – Batted. 467 on the week with four RBI and two stolen bases
- Mariah Reynolds (DP, North Florida) – Helped Ospreys to 8-0 week with six RBI and two home runs
- Ashley Byers (1B, Belmont) – Earned Tiger Classic All-Tournament Team honors; .400 BA with two homers
- Lindsay Vollmer (C, Kennesaw State) – Batted .500 with two RBI for the Owls vs. Georgia State
PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
Kaylie Wallace, North Florida (Fr. – North Palm Beach, Fla. – Accounting)
- First Career A-Sun Pitcher of the Week
- Went 5-0 with one save in six appearances for the Ospreys
- Helped team to 8-0 record on the week
- Posted a 0.41 ERA with 30 strikeouts and only two earned runs
- Hurled a 3-0 shutout vs. Iona on Sunday for third-complete game of the week
- Fired a season-high nine strikeouts in 2-1 win vs. Towson
OTHER NOMINEES:
- Shelby Morgan (Fr., FGCU) – Earned three wins on the week with a 1.18 ERA
- Shelby Morris (Sr., ETSU) – Tossed 2.2 innings of two-hit ball to earn win vs Presbyterian
- Amanda Henderson (So., Kennesaw State) – Struck out a career-high 16 batters in Owls' 3-1 win vs. Georgia State
