Seven A-Sun Softball Players Earn NFCA All-Region Honors

MACON, Ga. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has named six Atlantic Sun Softball student-athlete to its All-Region Teams as announced on Wednesday.

FGCU's Chelsea Zgrabik highlighted the league with first-team honors in the South Region. The A-Sun Co-Player of the Year, Zgrabik hit 15 home runs this season for the Eagles while adding 56 RBIs.

Grabbing second-team honors in the South Region was North Florida's pitcher Kaylie Wallace and Sharon Swanson from Kennesaw State as the DP. Wallace tabbed a league-leading 1.63 ERA while collecting 24 wins this season. Swanson registered 61 hits this season and 11 home runs.

In the outfield position, Mercer's McKenzie Woody and the Eagles' Kelsey Carpenter landed second-team honors in the South Region. Woody leads the league in batting average (.437) and hits (80), while Carpenter collected five triples and 49 runs this season.

Jacksonville's catcher Sarah Simon was named to the Southeast's second-team. Simon earned A-Sun Co-Player of the Year Honors after leading the league in slugging percentage (.790), on-base percentage (.529), home runs (16) and total bases (113).

Also earning second-team in the Southeast was USC Upstate's Shellie Robinson with a .733 slugging percentage and 14 doubles this season.

The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2013 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
