Huffman, Brosky Earn First Player and Pitcher of the Week

MACON, Ga. -- Campbell's Jessica Huffman and UNF's Katie Brosky earn the first
Atlantic Sun Player and Pitcher of the Week awards to kick off the 2007 season.
Huffman led the Camels to a 3-0-1 opening weekend while Brosky went 2-0.
Huffman hit .600 with two home runs and four RBIs and went 9-for-15 from the
plate in the Camels four games, including a perfect 4-for-4 in the second game
of a doubleheader against South Carolina State. The Cornelius, N.C. native finished
the week with a 1.067 slugging percentage, a .625 on-base percentage and five
stolen bases to go along with her lofty batting average.
The senior center fielder moved into a tie for second place in the Campbell
record books with 20 career home runs and needs just seven stolen bases to claim
the CU career record. Huffman accounted for 10 of the Fighting Camels 19 runs
over the weekend driving in four and scoring six times from the lead-off spot
in the lineup.
Brosky finished the week 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA at the Miken FAU Invitational.
She picked up her first win against Pitt and followed 2-0 shutout of Miami (Ohio).
The senior threw more than 150 pitches in nine innings. Brosky only allowed
two hits while striking out five, and walking three.
Brosky, a native of Palatka, Fla., is majoring in political science.
The Atlantic Sun Conference hands out Player of the Week awards each Monday
during the 2007 softball season.
The 12-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell,
ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, UNF and
Stetson with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate beginning competition in 2007-08.
