CHAMPIONSHIP NOTE OF THE WEEK
The host team has won two of the last three A-Sun Championships, but have struggled
historically, capturing only seven of 21 previous championships. Even further,
the top seed has not claimed the title in either of the last two seasons. With
one win in their final four A-Sun contets, preseason favorite Stetson will enter
the 2007
Atlantic Sun Championship presented by Coca-Cola as both the top seed and
tournament host.

Preseason favorite Stetson needs only to split their doubleheader with in-state
foe Jacksonville to claim the top seed at the upcoming Atlantic
Sun Championship presented by Coca-Cola. The Hatters are 7-3 all-time against
Jacksonville all-time and sweept a doubleheader from the Dolphins last season.
JU was eliminated from the postseason race last weekend, but will be honoring
three seniors playing in their final games, most notablly ace Katie Buell. The
Ballgroud, Ga., native ranks third in JU history with her 19 career wins.
A-Sun Notables
TITLE WITHIN REACH FOR KENNESAW STATE Kennesaw State clinched at least a share of their first Atlantic Sun regular
season title with their 7-1 win at Mercer last week. Jen Nolan blasted a second
inning grand slam to lift the Owls to the title.
STETSON GOALS STILL LOFTY Stetson needs one win in their final four A-Sun contests to capture the
top seed in the upcoming Atlantic
Sun Championship presented by Coca-Cola. The preseason favorites will need
to sweep both Jacksonville and UNF to claim a share of the regular season title.
The Hatters have swept four of their last five conference foes.
A-SUN RECORD WATCH More A-Sun players vaulted into the league's top-10 in the single season
record book over the weekend. Kennesaw State's Keri McKee torched the field
at the season-ending KSU Invitational, finishing with 81 hits on the season.
Her 81 hits ties her for fifth on the A-Sun list and helped the senior finish
her career as both the all-time hits and RBI leader at KSU. She also finished
second with 22 doubles, just three shy of the conference record. This season
the trifecta of Heather Collins (Lipscomb), Abby Keese (Lipscomb) and Jamie
Madruga (Mercer) have each blasted 14 bombs to stand tied for eight in A-Sun
history. Jennifer Nolan of Kennesaw State finished the year sixth in conference
record book with her 56 RBI. Southpaw Brittany Matthews fanned 246 batters to

UNF STUDENT-ATHLETES RECEIVE INSTITUTIONAL RECOGNITION UNF second baseman Gwen Williams was named the UNF Female Student-Athlete
of the Year, while also earning the Michael Andreau Endowed Scholarship, which
is presented annually to a UNF female student-athlete who demonstrates athletic
and academic excellence as well as exceptional motivation. Shortstop Ashley
Parenteau was awarded the Osprey Club Executive Board Endowed Scholarship, which
is presented annually to a UNF student-athlete who embodies exceptional personal
character, maintains good academic standing and makes a difference in the lives
of other.
