Macon, Ga. - The Atlantic Sun Conference announced today that North Florida's Devyn Findley was named Pitcher of the Week, and Gardner-Webb's Melody Harrell was named Player of the Week.
Melody Harrell, GWU (Fr. - SS/2B - Wilmington, N.C. - Undecided)
For the week Harrell hit .583 (14-24) with 34 total bases, three doubles, four triples, three home runs and a team-best 17 RBI. She also scored 10 runs. Harrell's 3 run homer in the eighth gave GWU a 5-4 win over Valpo. Her other two homeruns were inside the park. She stole both bases she attempted, started and played in all six games - all GWU wins. Harrell's four triples - all of which were last week, are the second most in a single season at GWU.
Devyn Findley, UNF (Fr. - Gainesville, Fla. - Nursing)
Findley aloowed only one earned run on the week, giving that up on a double steal by Campbell. The freshman from Gainesville, Fla., was 3-0 on the week with a save, while compiling a 0.42 ERA. She threw two complete games, shutting out Maine and allowing only one run to Campbell. She also made a pair of relief appearances against Ball State, earning a save and a win in that doubleheader, while helping herself at the plate by driving in the winning runs in both games. Findley struck out 22 in 16.2 innings of work, including eight against Campbell, and did not allow an extra base hit.
