FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU softball team completed with a two-game sweep of St. Bonaventure on Tuesday at the FGCU Softball Complex. The Eagles won game one, 3-2, and game two 5-0.
With the wins, FGCU advances 14-5 on the season and a perfect 9-0 at home. St. Bonaventure drops to 1-7 overall.
Game One
FGCU used late game heroics from freshman LeAnne McDowell (Arcadia, Fla.) to defeat the Bonnies in game one of the double header.
In the bottom of the sixth with the score tied 2-2, Jessica Gary (Naples, Fla.) singled by beating out a throw by the third baseman. McDowell pinch hit for Christa Piquette (Barrington, R.I.) and doubled to left center field to bring in Gary for the winning run.
Rachael Edinger picked up the win after going 7.0 innings, allowing three hits and striking out six. Edinger is now 6-1 on the season.
