FGCU's Paez More Than Just Another 'Face in the Crowd'

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Senior outfielder Carmen Paez is featured in the March 31, 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated.
Paez is included in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of Sports Illustrated. "Faces in the Crowd" features and highlights the accomplishments of several high school and collegiate athletes.
Paez, a senior outfielder at Florida Gulf Coast, is batting .409 and leads the Atlantic Sun Conference in home runs (17) and RBI (48). In the Eagles' first year of Division I competition, she has twice been league player of the week.
Paez is also among the best in the nation. She is currently leading the nation in home runs and is second in slugging percentage (.973), on base percentage and walks. She is tied for 5th and tied for 7th in runs per game and home runs per game, respectively. Paez's 49 RBI rank her 18th in the nation.
Last season she set the Division II record for home runs, with 28.
Paez and the first place Eagles are in action Friday night, when they travel to Nashville to face Lipscomb in the Atlantic Sun Series of the Week. The first of two games begins at 6:00 p.m. ET, and is available on ASun.TV.
