CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Putting up nine runs in the first three innings, the No. 15 Georgia Bulldogs pushed past Campbell 9-0 in first round action of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional at Williams Field.

The Bulldogs improve to 44-22 with the win, while Campbell, falling for the first time in six games, goes to 41-24 on the year. Campbell is 2-4 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.

Freshman leftfielder Megan Wiggins and senior catcher Melissa Wood started the Georgia offense in the bottom of the first inning, knocking in one run a piece to give UGA the early lead. In the Georgia third, four hits aided by three Camel miscues extended the Bulldog lead to nine.

A Jennie Auger RBI base hit initiated the big Bulldog inning, followed by a Wood two-RBI double with the bases loaded. From there, the Bulldogs tallied four more runs to take a 9-0 lead.

The Camels threatened often, pushing runners into scoring position in the first and third, while loading the bases in the fourth, but could not capitalize.

Junior Christie Hamilton (13-4) picked up the shutout win, allowing four hits while fanning five and walking four. Sophomore Brittany Stanley (25-10) was charged with the loss, going two and 1 / 3 innings while giving up eight runs, four earned, on seven hits while walking two.

Despite not getting the win, the Camels did manage to break yet another school record, taking down the hits mark, originally at 503 and set in 1995. The 2008 Camels now have 505 after today's four-hit performance.

The Camels will take on North Carolina tomorrow, set for a 3:30 p.m. start in Chapel Hill.
