MACON, Ga. - Mercer standout, Jenni Holtz, went 2-0 on the weekend to earn her second career Pitcher of the Week honor. Preseason All-Conference shortstop Abby Keese led the Lady Bisons with seven RBI on the week to earn Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Holtz pitched two shutouts against Jacksonville and UNF. The Tracy, Calif. native scattered eight hits and struck out 17 batters in 16 innings of work. Holtz's control was exceptional, as the lefty only walked one batter. The sophomore now ranks among the top five A-Sun pitchers in wins (T-1st - 19), opposing batting average (4th - .196), innings pitched (5th - 149.0) and batters struck out (3rd - 183).

Keese, a junior psychology major, led the Lady Bisons offensively with seven RBI and nine hits in a 6-0 week for the team. The Denver, Colo., native had at least one hit in all six games, including three games with two hits and two games with two RBI. Keese has 33 RBI on the season to rank seventh in the A-Sun.

The Lady Bisons are back home this week for a series of doubleheaders at Draper Diamond. They play Tennessee State from the Ohio Valley Conference Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Mercer and Lipscomb face off in a doubleheader in Nashville at Draper Diamond on Saturday.

Shaina Dent, UNF (P - Clermont, Fla. - Fr. - Communications) -- Shaina Dent captured all three conference wins for the Lady Ospreys last week, going 3-0 on the week with a 1.00 ERA while holding opposing hitters to a .170 batting average. Dent allowed 14 hits in 21 innings of work while walking six and striking out 15. Dent had to be sharp in the pitching circle thanks to an offense that did not score more than three runs in any of her outings. Dent began the week with a 3-2 win against cross-town rival JU, surrendering only three hits. She followed that up by not allowing an earned run against Kennesaw State before giving up five hits and one earned run in a 2-1 victory against Mercer.

Whitney Kiihnl, Lipscomb (P - Batesville, Miss. - Fr. - Biology) -- Won all three games she pitched as Lady Bisons were 6-0 for the week with wins over Chattanooga, ETSU and USC Upstate and her first save of her college career against ETSU. She shutout ETSU 3-0 on one hit, a bunt. It was her seventh shutout of the season.

Christina Melton, Campbell (DP - Charlotte, N.C. - Fr. - Undeclared) -- Aided Campbell to a 4-0 week.had two hits on the week, both home runs and drove in five.she also scored three runs and walked three times.Melton began her week with a three-run home run against conference rival Kennesaw State (4/7).she also walked twice against the Owls.in the first game against Stetson (4/11) she drove in two runs with a blast to center field.in the second game against the Hatters she walked and scored a run.Melton scored a run in all three games she played in on the week and reach base in every game.Melton has now hit five home runs on the year and has driven in 13

Amanda Scmidt, Jacksonville (C/IF - Pembroke Pines, Fla. - Fr. - Biology) -- Amanda Schmidt has gotten a grove at the plate in the last part of the season, which helped the Dolphins in their grueling four doubleheaders last week. Schmidt batted .435 (10-23) with a double, home run, four runs scored and three RBI in eight games between catching and playing third base. Schmidt opened the week going 4-for-5 with an RBI in the doubleheader against UNF. She had a solo home run and a run-scoring single in spark JU's 10-1 win at Florida A&M on April 7. Schmidt scored twice in the game two victory over Mercer on April 10 and had the game-winning single against Kennesaw State the next day to close out the week.
