Monday, August 29, 2005 Macon, Ga. - Florida Atlantic's Kelly Paiva earned the first Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honor of the season for her performance over the weekend in the FAU Invitational. Paiva had a career-high 28 kills against Florida International University and tied a career-high three service aces against Stetson as she led Florida Atlantic to a 3-0 start. For her efforts, the senior outside hitter was named MVP of the FAU Invitational. A native of Minas Gerais, Brazil, Paiva wins POTW honors for the first time in her career. She is currently majoring in Criminal Justice. Paiva and the Owls will host the FAU DoubleTree Classic this weekend in Boca Raton, Fla., and play a trio of matches against Bethune-Cookman, Fairfield and Furman. The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Player of the Week every Monday during the 2005 volleyball campaign. The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
