Ga. - For the second consectutive week, Florida Atlantic's Kelly Paiva
picks up the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week Award.
Pavia recorded a career-high 31 kills and 22 digs against Fairfield University
on Saturday. She finished the week averaging 5.50 kills per game and 4.30
digs per game. In the first match of the FAU DoubleTree Classic she hit
.500 with only one error in 20 attempts. In all three matches of the week
she posted double-doubles. The senior has four double-doubles on the season.
It is the second tournament in as many weeks that she was named MVP.
The senior outside hitter has been on a tear, as she leads the league
in kills. She led the way as the Owls swept Bethune-Cookman, Fairfield
and Furman, all 3-0 victories.
The Owls will put their undefeated record on the line when they head
to compete in the USF Best Western Invitational. The team will face Eastern
Washington on Friday and USF and Appalachian State on Sunday.
The Atlantic Sun Conference hands out Player of the Week awards weekly
during the 2005 volleyball campaign.
The 11-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., consists of Belmont,
Campbell, ETSU, Florida Atlantic, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw
State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson.
