Monday, September 12, 2005 Belmont (7-5) had a successful week, winning three out of five matches ... The Bruins recorded 9 double-doubles over the week, and finished third at the Radisson Hotels Invitational in Peoria, Ill. ... The Bruins face cross-town rival Tennessee State (4-7) on Tuesday at Belmont before the team heads to Birmingham, Ala. for the BSC Challenge, where they will face Birmingham Southern (4-4), Alabama (8-1), and Jackson State. The Fighting Camels opened the Campbell Classic with a 3-0 win over Radford and led Texas A&M Corpus Christi 2-0, before dropping six straight games over two matches to the Islanders and North Carolina A&T to finish the weekend 1-2 ... It doesn't get any easier for the Fighting Camels this weekend as they travel to Fort Worth, Texas for the Molten Invitational hosted by TCU; fifth-ranked Minnesota and Maine join the Camels and host Horned Frogs in the Invitational. The Lady Bucs opened the week with a victory, winning a 3-2 nail-biter over Wofford at home ... Senior Sara Scandiffio led the way for the Bucs, belting 16 kills on the match, along with four block assists and four block solos ... ETSU continued its winning ways on Friday, upending host Davidson, 3-1, at the Mizuno Wildcat Tournament, in Davidson, N.C. The team split a pair of games on Saturday, falling to Duquesne, 3-0, and toppling Howard, 3-0, at the Mizuno Wildcat Tournament.. Petya Borisova was named to the Denver Invitational all-tournament team after leading the Dolphins with three straight double-doubles … Eva Stoilova now has 649 kills in her career on top of 609 career digs as she looks to become the second player in school history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs …The Dolphins snapped a five-match losing streak on Saturday night against Idaho State, the longest streak since dropping the first seven matches of the 2004 season. Lindsey Rutherford earned a spot on the Ole Miss Invitational All-Tournament Team for her performances Friday and Saturday ... Rutherford played in 15 games as the Lady Bisons went 1-3 in the tournament with a victory over Lamar, a near upset of host Ole Miss and losses to North Carolina State and No. 17 Texas ... The Lady Bisons match victory over Lamar was their first victory of the season and their second five-game match of the season Mercer hosted the inaugural Bear Brawl on September 9-10, but couldn't get on track on their home court ... Jackie Viren led the Bears with 57 kills, and recorded a double-double in every match ... Liz Kane was selected to the all-tournament team after averaging 5.35 digs per game during Mercer's four matches ... The Bears next travel to Birmingham Southern on Tuesday for a single match at 7 p.m. Mercer will then travel to Bowling Green, Ky. for a tournament at Western Kentucky. The UNF volleyball team traveled to Rock Hill, S.C., over the weekend to participate in the Winthrop Invitational and a stout three-game test against Indiana, Winthrop and Furman … UNF finished 0-3, dropping 3-0 decisions to Indiana and Winthrop before losing 3-1 to Furman … The losses extended UNF’s losing streak to six consecutive matches, the second-longest streak in school history … As a team, UNF is hitting just .150 for the year in nine matches. Head coach Cheryl Carlson now has 99 career coaching victories ... Despite a 3-6 overall won-loss record, The Hatters have a 17-19 won-loss record in games and have outscored their opponents 920-908 in points ...
