Monday, October 03, 2005 The Bruins swept all three matches at home this week, and opened conference play 2-0. The win against Mercer on Friday gave head coach Deane Webb his 200th coaching victory. Jaye Schuler led the charge, collecting 7.0 blocks against UT-Martin, and totaled 15.0 for the week. Belmont's three-game win streak marks the longest of the season for the squad. The team continues conference play this weekend on the road against Campbell and Gardner-Webb. Campbell went 2-1 over the past week in non-conference action dropping a close match to East Carolina and defeating Barton and Fayetteville State both by a 3-0 mark. The Camels fell by a total of seven points to the Pirates, just one over the six point minimum. Tabitha Turner averaged 4.67 kills and 6.5 blocks to lead the Camels, while Alissa Brackeen averaged 3.33 kills, 3.33 digs and 1.33 service aces per game. Campbell returns to Atlantic Sun action this week hosting Belmont and Lipscomb over the weekend. The Lady Bucs posted another 2-0 week, improving to 10-5 overall, 2-0 in the
A-Sun, and extending their winning streak to four matches. ETSU picked up victories
this week with wins over King College and remained perfect in A-Sun play, downing
Gardner-Webb, 3-1. Jennifer Sartor led the way for ETSU with 21 kills for the
week, followed by Sarah Buhr with 19. Senior Sara Scandiffio added 18 kills
for the week, including a 15-kill, .591 performance in the win over GWU. The
Lady Bucs hit the road to face Wofford on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Gardner-Webb
Bulldogs UNF’s loss to JU snapped a 61-match conference winning streak for the Lady Ospreys, dating back to the 2000 season. The Lady Ospreys had a five-match winning streak snapped this season with the loss. UNF is in the midst of an 11-match swing where they play 10 matches away from home. The Lady Ospreys will travel to face defending A-Sun champion Florida Atlantic in a non-conference on Wednesday and then jump back into conference play at Mercer on Saturday . Stetson has played 13 of its first 16 matches on the road. Stetson's next four matches will be at home. The Hatters will try to snap a six-game losing streak on Saturday against Florida Atlantic. DeeAnn Dempsey continues to rank among the top three league leaders in kills and points. |
