ETSU Bucaneers

The Lady Bucs, off to their first 5-0 start in conference play since 1999, welcome in conference co-leader Belmont Friday night with first place in the Atlantic Sun on the line. ETSU fell to the Bruins twice last season, dropping a 3-0 regualr season decision and falling in four games in the confernce tournament's opening match. Senior Nani Emerson and junior Kaena Apana continue to rank nationally in assists and digs, respectively. Emerson, averaging 13.07 assists per contest, ranks 16th in the NCAA, and Apana's 5.51 digs per game rank her 28th nationally.

Gardner-Webb Bulldogs

The Gardner-Webb volleyball team lost three matches last week, two of which came on the road against Atlantic Sun foes Belmont and Lipscomb. The other loss came at the hands of Winthrop at Paul Porter Arena. This week, the Bulldogs look to get back on track as they play host to High Point Tuesday at 7 p.m. It will be the only match of the week for GWU, as it has off until a road match against A-Sun member North Florida on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

Kennesaw State Owls

The Owls are still looking for their first A-Sun win after falling 3-0 a conference-leading ETSU on Saturday. KSU's offensive woes continue as they find themselves in the bottom of the league in hitting percentage (0.56) and kills (9.98 kpg).

Lipscomb Bisons

The Lady Bisons won three matches last week, beating non-conference foe Tennessee-Chattanooga 3-0 on Oct. 1o followed by a pair of conference wins with a 3-2 decision over Campbell Oct. 13 and a 3-0 sweep of Gardner-Webb Oct. 14. The Lady Bisons have won six of their last seven matches. The Campbell match was only the second five-game match for the Lady Bisons this season, having lost 3-2 to Arkansas-Little Rock at the Memphis Invitational Sept. 9. However, it marked the fourth time in as many seasons that the Lady Bisons and Campbell have played a five-game match. The Lady Bisons hold a 3-1 edge. Individually, sophomore outside hitter Cara Wilber had 13 kills in only two games, tying with Rutherford for the match high, against Gardner-Webb. With 19 kills and 23 digs against Campbell, Wilber has double-doubles in those categories in five of her last seven games. Libero Ann Mullins is 15th nationally in digs in NCAA Division I.

Mercer Bears

Mercer split for the week, falling to Charlotte, 3-0, and sweeping Savannah State, 3-0. The Bears hit .556 percent to Savannah State's .000 hitting percent and recorded only two attacking errors for the entire match. Mercer held Savannah State to only five points in the second game of the match. Setter Chelsea Gebben served up 22 straight points and recorded six service aces in her stretch. Mercer will face non-conference foe Georgia State Tuesday night in Atlanta. The Bears return to conference action as they travel to Jacksonville to face UNF Friday and Jacksonville Saturday.
