Thursday, August 26, 2010

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lipscomb's middle blocker Alex Kelly has been named as a candidate for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. She is the second Lipscomb student-athlete to be a candidate for the award joining softball player Kelli Sirus, who was on the list last season.

Kelly was the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year for 2008 and 2009 and was recently named to the Preseason All-Atlantic Sun Conference Team for the upcoming 2010 season.

From the list of 30 candidates, 10 finalists will be selected by a national media committee and announced in mid-October. Fan balloting as well as votes from coaches and media will determine the final winner.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
