Bucs’ Long Wins First Career Player of the Week

MACON, Ga. – ETSU’s senior middle blocker, Alysa Long, picked up her first career Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award, announced Monday by the league office, for her performance at the Georgia Southern SpringHill Suites Invitational. The Romulus, Mich., native tallied 38 kills in the four matches, in which the Buccaneers went 3-1, while also adding to her conference-leading blocks total with 16 on the weekend to bring her season total to 65. Against South Alabama, Long dominated the Jaguars with eight kills and a .667 hitting percentage.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Alysa Long, ETSU (Middle Blocker – Sr. – Romulus, Mich. – Accounting)
• First-time A-Sun Player of the Week winner
• All-Tournament team at the SpringHill Suites Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern
• Finished the tournament with 38 kills, 16 blocks and a .350 hitting percentage
• Posted a .667 hitting percentage against South Alabama with eight kills in the victory
• Leads the conference in blocks with 65 on the season

OTHER NOMINEES:
• Aidan Yeager (OH, Jacksonville) – earned all-tournament honors with 26 kills and four blocks
• Allyson Goldbach (OH, Campbell) – named Tournament MVP of UNC Wilmington Beach Bash tallying 38 kills and 36 digs
• Tara Blood (MH, Belmont) – picked up second all-tournament honor with 36 kills and nine blocks
• Sabrita Gulley (OH, Kennesaw State) – recorded 1,000th career kill against Coastal Carolina; first player in program history to reach that mark
• Cori Harris (OH, USC Upstate) – registered 73 kills on the week; Wofford All-Tournament team
• Libby Hansch (MB, Mercer) – racked up 26 kills and 12 blocks to earn all-tournament honors
