MACON, Ga. – Jacksonville left the opening weekend with a 2-0 record and wins against Stetson and FGCU behind the play of Aidan Yeager, who scored 21 kills in a five-set victory against the Eagles. For her outstanding performance in the opening week of conference play, Yeager earned her first career Atlantic Sun Player of the Week award, announced Monday by the league office.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Aidan Yeager, Jacksonville (Outside Hitter – Sr. – Martinez, Ga. – Business Management)
• First A-Sun Player of the Week Award
• Posted a season-high 21 kills in a five-set victory against FGCU with a .426 hitting percentage
• Totaled 27 kills, eight blocks and six service aces in two matches
• Dolphins opened the A-Sun season with victories over the Eagles and Stetson
OTHER NOMINEES:
• Chelsea Lyles (MB, FGCU) – tallied a career-high 14 kills against Jacksonville
• Jake Pease (L, Lipscomb) – posted 70 assists and 17 digs in two victories for the Lady Bisons
• Emily Werner (OH, Campbell) – registered double-doubles in kills and digs in two matches
• Maggie Johnson (OH, Belmont) – accumulated 30 kills and 29 digs on the week
• Krista Hurley (MB, Mercer) – led Mercer with seven kills and seven blocks against Belmont
