MACON, Ga. – Kennesaw State’s Alyssa Lang tied the Atlantic Sun record for kills in the 25-point, three-set conference match era with 21 against UNF to earn the Player of the Week honors, announced Monday by the league office. To go along with her record performance, Lang added a double-double in a 3-1 win against Jacksonville, the first defeat of the Dolphins in program history.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Alyssa Lang, Kennesaw State (OH/DS – Jr. – Richmond, Va. – Human Services)
• First-time A-Sun Player of the Week winner
• Connected for 21 kills in three-set win against UNF
• Her 21 kills were the most in the A-Sun since 2005 and tied the record for most in a three-set conference match
• Added a double-double (13 kills, 13 digs) against Jacksonville in 3-1 victory
• Averaged 4.86 kills per set and 3.29 digs per set on the week
OTHER NOMINEES:
• Alex Kelly (MB, Lipscomb) – totaled 33 kills and 26 digs in two conference victories
• Lauren Baufield (RS, ETSU) – scored career-high 16 kills in win against Belmont
• Emily Sanders (S, USC Upstate) – recorded 61 assists in two conference matches
• Kayla Albritton (OH, Belmont) – led Bruins with 24 kills in two conference victories
• Libby Hansch (MB, Mercer) – racked up 18 kills and 12 blocks to lead Mercer to two wins
• Allyson Goldbach (OH, Campbell) – pushed Camels to a 2-0 week with her 23 kills and 27 digs
