Thursday, December 16, 2010 NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lipscomb seniors Alex Kelly and Stefine “Jake” Pease have been named AVCA (NCAA) honorable mention All-America for the second year in a row. “To be a two-time All-America speaks for itself,” Lipscomb coach Brandon Rosenthal said. “I think it is special because a lot of times smaller schools usually get one. To have two players earn All-America two years in a row is a tremendous honor.” Pease, a setter, was the Atlantic Sun Player of the Year. Kelly, a middle blocker, was the A-Sun Tournament MVP. Both leave with impressive numbers. Kelly posted 1,746 kills and 1,085 digs for her career. Pease had 5,159 assists and 1,051 digs. In their four years at Lipscomb they were never on a team that won fewer than 20 games. They advanced to the Atlantic Sun Tournament championship match all four years, winning the tournament title and an NCAA bid three of those years. “I’m proud of these girls that they have been recognized at the highest level on a national scale,” Rosenthal said. “There is a reason why they got it. They both have put in the time and the effort over a long period of time.”
