KENNESAW, Ga. - Following a weekend that included a milestone moment, Kennesaw State senior outside hitter Alyssa Lang has been named Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the conference office in Macon Monday morning.

"We're thrilled that Alyssa has been recognized by the conference with this award," said KSU head coach Karen Weatherington. "She has persevered through a difficult injury to return and lead our team to four straight wins. Our team is having a successful run, and Alyssa receiving this award is in large part due to that success."

Lang had a big week for the Owls, helping KSU dominate Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast. Against the Hatters, Lang had 11 kills, seven digs, two aces and a solo block as KSU held Stetson to a -.054 attack percentage in a 3-0 sweep. The next day against Florida Gulf Coast, Lang recorded the 1,000th kill of her Division I career. Her milestone kill came on her 13th successful attack of the day, a team-best. The senior also had a match-high 18 digs as the Owls held the Eagles to a .020 attack percentage. KSU's win over the Eagles knocked FGCU from the ranks of the A-Sun unbeaten this season and was also the first win at the KSU Convocation Center for the Owls over the squad from Fort Myers.

For the week, Lang averaged 4.00 kills and 4.17 digs per set and also notched a solo block and a pair of service aces. In conference action, the senior is now averaging 3.81 kills and 3.38 digs per set.

The honor is the second weekly award from the A-Sun that Lang has received in her career. The first came nearly one year year ago to the date as the Richmond, Va., native won Oct. 11, 2010.
