MACON, Ga. – A battle of unbeaten FGCU and Lipscomb on Friday night highlights a schedule of 11 conference matches and one non-conference matchup scheduled over the next few days in A-Sun volleyball.

TRICK OR TREAT
In the last three years the month of October has been a treat for some A-Sun teams while unfavorable for others. Three-time defending A-Sun Champ Lipscomb has fared the best, followed closely by Kennesaw State. Below are their current records in October since 2009.

As of Oct. 10, FGCU and USC Upstate lead the conference with five players each who have posted at least one double-double this season. Stetson, North Florida and ETSU are next with four a piece, followed by KSU, JU and Mercer with three. Two of the A-Sun’s top teams, NKU and Lipscomb, have two players each with double-doubles. ETSU's Megan Devine leads a list of talented players who have tallied multiple double-doubles this season as well, and below are the A-Sun’s individual leaders in double-doubles this season.

BATTLE OF THE UNBEATEN
Something has to give this weekend as FGCU soars into Nashville to face Lipscomb on Friday evening, Oct. 12. In the battle of the A-Sun’s unbeatens, FGCU has won eight straight A-Sun contests, while Lipscomb has notched seven consecutive victories. The Eagles are 4-0 on the road in A-Sun play, and the Bisons are 2-0 at home this season. The last time Lipscomb lost to the Eagles was in Allen Arena, a 3-2 FGCU victory on Oct. 4, 2008. That loss also marks the last home conference loss for the Bisons. FGCU has beaten Lipscomb only one other time, a 3-1 win later that same season on Oct. 19 in Fort Myers. The Eagles and the Bison rank first and second in the A-Sun in hitting pct., opponent hitting pct., assists and kills. FGCU also is second in the conference in blocks. Lipscomb’s Kaycee Green and Catilin Dotson lead the A-Sun in kills (4.52/set) and assists (12.26/set) in A-Sun play, while Dotson also ranks 16th in the nation in assists in the latest NCAA statistical rankings.Tweets about "#ASunVB"
